December 17, 2021: COVID-19 vaccine claims scheme

Australians who received a COVID-19 vaccine and experienced eligible clinical conditions or injuries can now claim compensation through the Express Plus Medicare mobile app. The claim scheme officially opened on 13 December, covering the cost of injuries or adverse events caused by a TGA approved COVID-19 vaccine for $1000 and above.

November 23, 2021: Prove your vaccination status

Express Plus Medicare can now help prove your vaccination status. Here is how this works:

Download Express Plus Medicare app. Link Medicare to your myGov account, and sign in with your myGov details. Select “proof of vaccinations” and then “view history”. Finally, select “Share with check in app” and then “mySA Gov”. Now, you get what you need!

September 28, 2021: Changes to the COVID-19 Disaster Payment

When your state or territory reaches 70% fully vaccinated

When 70% of people 16 years or older in your state or territory are fully vaccinated with 2 doses of a COVID-19 vaccine, your automatic COVID-19 Disaster Payment will stop. If you’re still affected by movement restrictions, you’ll need to reapply for the payment each week so we know you're still eligible.

When your state or territory reaches 80% fully vaccinated

When 80% of people 16 years or older in your state or territory are fully vaccinated with 2 doses of a COVID-19 vaccine, your COVID-19 Disaster Payment will reduce over 2 weeks. You'll need to reapply for the payment each week so we know you're still eligible.

In the first week after a state or territory reaches 80% fully vaccinated, the COVID-19 Disaster Payment will be:

one $450 payment if you’ve lost more than 8 hours of work and you're not getting an eligible Centrelink or Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA) payment

one $100 payment if you've lost more than 8 hours of work and you’re getting an eligible Centrelink or DVA payment.

In the second week after a state or territory reaches 80% fully vaccinated, the COVID-19 Disaster Payment will:

be one $320 payment if you've lost more than 8 hours of work and you’re not getting an eligible Centrelink or DVA payment

end if you’re getting an eligible Centrelink or DVA payment.

After this period, the COVID-19 Disaster Payment won't be available in your area.

September 22, 2021: Main way to prove vaccination status

Express Plus Medicare app will be the main way to prove vaccination status.

The NSW Government has previously stated that stay-at-home orders for adults who have received both doses of the COVID vaccine will be lifted from the Monday after NSW passes the 70 percent double vaccination target.

There are other freedoms that are allowed to double-vaxxed people and not the rest of the population. This includes things like being able to gather in groups of five at the park and allowing their children to mingle in groups of three.
